Subject Overview

Design & Technology is compulsory in Years 7 & 8 and the curriculum is designed to give students a foundation in the core skills and knowledge required to continue the subject, should they chose to opt for it, in Year 9 and on into GCSE.

In Years 7 & 8 pupils complete three projects per year and in Year 9 they complete two. All projects are designed to introduce and build upon the elements, which form the three disciplines offered at GCSE:

Graphic ProductsResistant MaterialSystems & Control

At AS and A2 pupils go on to chose either Product Design or Systems & Control depending on their GCSE specialism and their ambitions for university/future careers.
